2013 Loma Vista Farm Membership

The Friends of Loma Vista Farm are excited to announce a NEW program to help you save money and enjoy everything the Farm has to offer. Situated on five acres, Loma Vista Farm is home to a variety of animals, provides educational opportunities to over 18,000 students of all abilities, hosts a Master Gardener’s program for learners of all ages including a local 4-H program, provides hands-on experiences for Carrington Community College Veterinary Technicians, sponsors a Spring and Fall Festival, sells pumpkins and Christmas trees during the year and offers students a chance to be a part of the Farm during ‘Summer Fun on the Farm’.

For a yearly price you can now purchase a membership to Loma Vista Farm. With this membership you will be able to keep informed of all the above programs as they are offered, be a part of a community dedicated to keeping the Farm alive for all ages, suggest ways to proceed with future Farm programs, and remind everyone why the Farm has remained an important Vallejo fixture for almost 40 years.

Fire at the Farm

A grass fire erupted at Loma Vista Farm on Friday, Feb. 15, across from the office side of the Farm at about 2:45 p.m. Wind was blowing toward the Farm rather than in its usual westerly direction, and that apparently caused an ember to ignite a bale of straw in the garden.

Farmfire

The Vallejo Fire Department responded quickly, making sure the fire was out and that it had not spread to other areas. Firemen are expected to check on the area over the next day or so as a precaution.

There have been several such small fires over the last few years, but this one was a bit bigger and came closer to causing serious damage.
