Founded in 1974, Loma Vista Farm has been making a difference in Vallejo and Solano County for more than three decades by providing school children with experiential learning opportunities that bolster their academic skills in reading, writing, math, social science, language arts, science and health in a farm-based setting. Many of the students served are enrolled in special education classes, are from low income circumstances and are ethnically diverse. The Farm is an outdoor classroom that provides hands-on educational activities involving plants and animals for children of all ages and abilities. We seek to increase their knowledge of nature and nutrition while enhancing academic learning, eco-literacy and psychosocial development.

Loma Vista Farm is a public and private venture between the Vallejo City Unified School District and the Friends of Loma Vista Farm, a community-based nonprofit organization established in 2003. The Friends provide fiscal, administrative, organizational oversight and leadership. The Board is comprised of teachers, parents, community members, and representatives from local businesses. The Friends’ mission is to support Loma Vista Farm and Garden Center with funding, future planning and development and management.

The farm includes a one-acre organic garden, a greenhouse, a kitchen, 100 livestock and poultry. It collaborates with local schools, 4-H, Solano Master Gardening Program, Solano County Mental Health, and Western Career College.
